I started buying Friday flowers when I was 24, living in New York City. After a long, wonderful week of teaching my sweet first graders, I'd walk to the bodega on 72nd and Columbus and pick out a bunch of blooms. It always filled my cup.
Wherever I lived in the city, that Friday tradition followed me — a small, joyful ritual that reminded me how much a handful of flowers can change a whole week.
Flowers have a beautiful way of bringing joy, warmth, and creativity into our lives — and that's exactly what Blooms of Joy is all about.
When we moved to Katonah in 2020, I finally had a backyard of my very own — a place to grow and cultivate all my beauties. Peonies and tulips, dahlias and tree peonies, sweet peas and snapdragons, all in their vibrant, spectacular colors.
Now I wake up to the buzz of bees on the wisteria and birds chirping away, and I get to share that beauty with my neighbors — one fresh-cut, garden-grown arrangement at a time.
My years teaching first grade taught me that the smallest, most thoughtful gestures bring the most joy. I bring that same care to every bloom — and I love teaching people of all ages how to bring florals into their homes, too.
My two creative girls inspire so much of what I make. From dried-flower crafts to mini gardens, our home is always blooming with color, mess, and joy — and I wouldn't have it any other way.
Thank you for supporting a small, local business and following along as Blooms of Joy grows. I can't wait to make something joyful for you.
